Alexander Farah

Alexander Farah is an Afghan-Canadian director and editor whose work has screened at Berlinale, Telluride and Clermont-Ferrand. Alex excels in weaving narratives that resonate deeply with themes of yearning, family bonds, community spirit, and the journey towards healing. His unique talent lies in crafting stories that not only engage but also evoke profound emotional responses from his audience.

His first short Sahar premiered at TIFF, while his most recent directing project Meet You At The Light won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Choice Award for Best Music Video at SXSW 2022, as well as the International Grand Prix at the Kinsale Shark Awards. The last film he edited, Motherland, won Best Canadian Short Film at TIFF in 2023. His editorial work has been recognized with six Vimeo staff picks, multiple Canadian Screen Award nominations, and features in esteemed publications like Nowness, D&AD, and Cannes YDA. His longstanding proficiency in editing readily informs his directing, enabling him to extract nuanced performances and capture essential moments with precision.

Alexander holds a BFA in Film from Emily Carr University, and is pursuing his Masters in Film from York University. Past clients have included Zalando, Lululemon, and Doc Martens.
